Scottish Whisky
Scotch Whisky is an alcoholic beverage distilled in Scotland from grain, water, and yeast, which must be aged in oak barrels for at least three years and bottled at a minimum of 40% vol. The term derives from the Gaelic “uisge beatha”—“water of life.”
Single Malt ,Scotch ,Whisky is produced exclusively from malted barley at a single distillery. It is considered the finest and most distinctive type of Scotch whiskey—each distillery has its own unique style.
According to Scottish law, Scottish " Whisky " must be distilled in Scotland and aged in oak barrels for at least three years. The Scottish climate, water, barley, and the distillery’s tradition give each " Whisky " its unique character.
Speyside-Whiskies are known for their fruity, sweet notes with Sherry-influences. Islay-Whiskies are characterized by strong peaty and smoky notes. Highland whiskies are versatile and range from light and floral to full-bodied and spicy. Island whiskies, such as Isle of Raasay , combine a maritime saltiness with peaty notes.
Experts recommend drinking Single Malt Whisky in a Glencairn glass—the tulip shape optimally concentrates the aromas for the nose. A few drops of still water can open up the Whisky and release additional aromas. Connoisseurs generally do not recommend adding ice, as it suppresses the aromas.
Absolutely. A personally recommended Single Malt is one of the most popular high-quality gifts for men. Our Whisky sets with Glencairn glasses are especially popular—for example, the Isle of Raasay Single Malt set with 2 Glencairn glasses.
