Balblair is located in Easter Ross, in the northern Highlands of Scotland, near the Dornoch Firth—one of the country’s oldest distilleries, founded in 1790. Having remained well off the beaten path of the “ Speyside ” tourist circuit, “ Balblair ” is an insider’s tip among Whisky connoisseurs: an elegant, fruity Highland style that deliberately forgoes peat, allowing the natural sweetness of the spring water and the quality of the casks to shine through.
Balblair , aged 18 years, is matured in a combination of former bourbon and sherry casks—the bourbon casks contribute vanilla, ripe fruit, and the characteristic golden-yellow color; the sherry casks add depth, spices, and dried fruit. The result is a balanced, elegant “ Whisky ” with a refined structure.
Aroma: Ripe pears and golden syrup, a hint of vanilla and butterscotch, with a subtle floral note in the background.
Flavor: Full-bodied and creamy—caramelized apples, ginger root, dark cherries, and a subtle oakiness.
Finish: Long, warm, and elegant—almonds, dried apricots, and a delicate sweetness that slowly fades.
