The Isle of Harris Distillery in Tarbert opened in 2015—one of Scotland’s newest craft distilleries, located in the Outer Hebrides, one of the country’s most remote and wildest archipelagos. In Gaelic, “The Hearach” means “ Harris ” — a name that expresses this whiskey’s deep connection to its island. The Atlantic climate of the Outer Hebrides, the salty sea air, and the islands’ soft spring water shape every drop.
The Hearach is bottled without an age statement—the distillery is young, and its best casks are sorted not by vintage but by character. The Whisky matures in a combination of former bourbon and sherry casks, developing a distinctive island style: maritime, smooth, and infused with heather honey.
Aroma: Fresh heather honey, sea salt, and vanilla—a gentle Atlantic breeze with a sweetness reminiscent of freshly baked shortbread.
Taste: Creamy and mild, with notes of citrus, warm caramel, and a hint of peat—light and approachable, yet with enough character to surprise.
Aftertaste: Medium-long, salty, and warm—the Hebrides in a glass.

It's a matter of taste, but most connoisseurs recommend trying " Single Malt " neat at first. A few drops of still water can bring out the flavors and mellow the alcohol smell—especially with whiskies that have a higher alcohol content. Ice cubes are generally not recommended, as the cold suppresses the flavors.
