Oban is located right on the west coast of Scotland—a small town where the Highlands s meet the sea, and home to one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, founded in 1794. The distillery is literally in the middle of town, wedged between the harbor and the cliff behind it; it cannot expand, so it produces its whisky slowly and carefully. “ Oban ” is considered the bridge between “Highland” and “Island” Whisky — the maritime saltiness of the islands meets the fruitiness and warmth of the “ Highlands.”
Oban , 14 Years Old, is the quintessential expression of this balance. The first impression is distinctly smoky and spicy—but due to its proximity to the sea, marine aromas and a slight saltiness gradually come to the fore.
Aroma: Heather honey, fresh oranges, and a hint of peat, carried by a gentle sea breeze.
Flavor: Caramelized sweetness with dry spice, orange peel, and a subtle hint of smoke.
Finish: Long and balanced—salt, spices, and a warm, nutty dryness.
