Melrose Abbey Located on the banks of the Tweed in the Scottish Border Region—the ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian abbey, famous for its Gothic window arches and the heart of Robert the Bruce, which is said to be buried here. In 1858, the Brandenburg poet Theodor Fontane visited the abbey by moonlight and later wrote: “I have never seen anything more beautiful than these ruins.” Back in Brandenburg, he wrote his travel book *Jenseits des Tweed * —a work that is still read today and which has made the “ Melrose ”Abbey unmistakable to German readers. The name of this wool blanket connects Scotland and Germany in a way that no other product in our collection can.
The Tartan wool blanket Melrose Abbey is woven in Scotland from 100% pure lambswool. The colorful pattern combines a rich green base with vibrant stripes of orange, purple, and blue —the most colorful check pattern in the entire collection, inspired by the abbey’s colorful stained-glass windows. A natural lavender scent is infused into the soft fibers. Dimensions: 150 × 180 cm · 1,100 g.

Questions about this " Tartan " wool blanket
Each Kuuhi wool blanket is named after a real Scottish location—an abbey, a mountain, an island, or a valley. The colors of each blanket are inspired by the landscape of that location. You can find the history of each location in the product description.
All Kuuhi Tartan wool blankets are generously sized—ranging from 170 × 150 cm to 200 × 150 cm (including fringes), depending on the model. You can find the exact dimensions of this blanket in the product description. For use as a bedspread on a double bed, we recommend our bedspread collection.
All Kuuhi Tartan wool blankets are infused with a natural lavender scent. The scent is particularly intense when you unpack the blanket and lingers for quite some time—it fades naturally over time. In Scotland, lavender is traditionally considered a natural moth repellent for wool products.
