It originated in the Scottish Borders as a fabric for workwear and Tweed jackets, and today it is one of the most classic patterns in international fashion. The jagged edges are created by a specific weaving process that interlaces two colors.
Shetland wool comes from sheep on the Shetland Islands—one of the harshest and most remote landscapes in Great Britain. The fibers are slightly thicker and more voluminous than regular lambswool, which makes these blankets particularly heavy and warm. Shetland wool is known for its exceptional durability—a true heirloom blanket.
