The Laidlaw — named after one of the oldest Scottish Borders surnames — is a handmade women’s handbag by McRostie of Scotland, inspired by the traditional HighlandSporran of the same name. Made from traditionally tanned British bridle leather —the same material McRostie has been using since 1887 to craft sporrans, belts, and leather goods for the Scottish Highlands .
Magnetic clasp, fully adjustable leather strap with 9 holes and 2 leather loops. Comes with a natural cotton dust bag.

Bridle leather is a traditional, particularly sturdy type of leather that was originally developed for horse bridles. It is tanned and waxed slowly and carefully, which makes it more resilient and durable than most other types of leather. Over time, it develops a rich, natural patina.
It depends on how it’s used, but the first visible changes usually appear after a few weeks of regular use. The patina develops through contact with light, air, and the skin’s natural moisture, and deepens over months and years—this isn’t wear and tear, but rather the hallmark of genuine bridle leather.
