Die Insel Staffa liegt 10 Kilometer vor der Küste von Mull in den Inneren Hebriden — unbewohnt, sturmumtost und von einer geologischen Schönheit, die Reisende seit Jahrhunderten in ihren Bann zieht. Staffa besteht nahezu vollständig aus sechseckigen Basaltsäulen, die vor 60 Millionen Jahren durch die langsame Abkühlung von Lava entstanden und deren Regelmäßigkeit so perfekt ist, dass Besucher sie für das Werk von Menschenhänden hielten. Im Herzen der Insel öffnet sich Fingal's Cave: eine hallende Meeresgrotte, deren Wände aus tausenden geometrischer Säulen bestehen und deren Inneres im Sturm eine natürliche Musik erzeugt. Felix Mendelssohn besuchte die Höhle 1829 und schrieb danach seine Hebriden-Ouvertüre — eines der bekanntesten Orchesterstücke der Romantik.
Die Tartan Picknickdecke Isle of Staffa von Kuuhi Scotland ist nach dieser außergewöhnlichen Insel benannt. Das warme Rot-Tartanmuster trägt die Farben der Basaltfelsen im Abendlicht — ein tiefer, erdiger Ton, der sich von allen anderen Tartans im Kuuhi-Sortiment abhebt. Die Oberseite aus 100 % reiner Lammwolle ist weich genug für direkten Hautkontakt; die Unterseite aus gewachster Baumwolle hält Sie auf feuchtem Gras, Sand oder Stein trocken.
Diese schottische Picknickdecke ist in zwei Größen erhältlich: 170 × 150 cm für zwei Personen (1.600 g, ab 219 €) und 200 × 150 cm für drei bis vier Personen (1.800 g). Transportieren lässt sie sich mit unseren handgefertigten Lederriemen mit Messingverschlüssen. Als Indoor-Begleitung ist die passende Wolldecke Staffa mit Lavendelduft erhältlich.
