Shake it out – right after the picnic

Before you fold up and pack away your blanket: Shake it out vigorously. Blades of grass, crumbs, sand, and other loose debris can be easily removed now—later, once everything has dried, it will be much more difficult.

Hold the blanket by two corners and give it a few vigorous swings through the air. Dirt and moisture tend to accumulate especially along the edges and in the corners.

Air Out — at Home, Before You Store It

After your outing, we recommend hanging your picnic blanket out in the fresh air for a few hours—preferably in the shade, not in direct sunlight. Fresh air helps remove faint odors and moisture that have accumulated in the fabric while the blanket was lying on the ground.

Never fold the blanket while it is damp or still warm—this can cause mold to grow and permanently damage the quality of the wool.

Removing Stains – Instantly and Gently

Wool is naturally stain- and water-repellent—but only for a short time. If a liquid isn't treated immediately, it will begin to soak into the fiber after just a few minutes. So act quickly:

• Use cold water and a mild, high-quality wool detergent.
• Never scrub —the friction causes pilling and permanently damages the wool's structure.
• Apply the wool detergent to the stain, let it sit for a moment, and then gently blot it with a soft, clean cloth.
• Rinse with cold water and let the area air dry—never use a hair dryer to dry it.

Store properly—in a dark, cool, and dry place

If your picnic blanket will not be used for an extended period of time, we recommend storing it as follows:

• Store the blanket in a dark, cool, and dry place —moisture and direct sunlight are the biggest enemies of wool products.
• Use airtight storage containers or a linen bag —not plastic, since it traps moisture.
• Add a few cedar wood chips or lavender sachets —cedar wood is a natural moth repellent, and lavender keeps insects away without damaging the wool.
• Do not use mothballs containing naphthalene —they can damage the structure of wool and leave behind an odor that is difficult to remove.

Treat with care—for a long service life

Our picnic blankets are durable and designed for outdoor use—but even natural materials have their limits. Please note:

• Do not pull or stretch —especially at the edges and fringes, which can otherwise become distorted.
• Use exclusively as a picnic blanket —not as a dog bed, doormat, or mat for heavy objects.
• Pets and small children can damage the wool side with their claws or by rubbing it vigorously—please be careful.
• Do not use a washing machine —the lambswool side is not machine-washable. For the wool side, if it is heavily soiled, we recommend gentle dry cleaning —or, alternatively, a gentle cold hand wash with a mild wool detergent.
