The Isle of Harris Distillery in Tarbert, in the Outer Hebrides, has been producing two products since 2015: the Single Malt Whisky The Hearach — and this Gin, which has made the distillery world-famous. The Gin contains as its defining botanical Sugar Kelp — a brown seaweed harvested by a diver in the underwater forests off the island’s coast. Harvested by hand, not by machine, in quantities that do not harm the marine environment. This seaweed gives the Gin its unmistakable maritime character—salty, iodine-rich, deep—which sets it apart from every other Gin in the world.

The recipe consists of a total of nine Botanicals : in addition to Sugar Kelp ,juniper berries, coriander, angelica root, cassia bark, and other select ingredients. The distinctive blue bottle won the Gold Award at the 2021 World Gin Awards. The distillation process is elaborate—the heads and tails are completely removed from the distillation process to ensure the highest quality.

Aroma: Fresh and maritime—juniper, sea salt, and a subtle hint of seaweed, carried by citrus and coriander. Taste: Smooth, balanced, and distinctive—the sweetness of juniper meets the depth of the sea, with a long, clean finish.
