Dunoon is located on the western shore of the Firth of Clyde, just a short ferry ride from Glasgow , and has been a classic day-trip destination for Glaswegians since the 19th century. The town is known for its Victorian pier, the magnificent backdrop of the Cowal Peninsula—and, above all, for the Cowal Highland Gathering, one of the world’s largest Highland Games, which has attracted thousands of spectators every year at the end of August since 1894.
