Kinalba was founded by Sinclair and Debbie Paterson and is based in Galashiels , in the heart of the Scottish Borders—a region with over 200 years of textile heritage. Sinclair Paterson trained at the Heriot-Watt School of Textiles & Design in Galashiels and previously served as Operations Director at Johnstons of Elgin. The founding family has a personal connection to Scottish textile history dating back to the 1970s. The products are crafted in Scotland by skilled artisans— Made in Scotland.
Kinalba sources cashmere exclusively from the Alashan region of Inner Mongolia—one of the most prestigious sources of cashmere in the world. The geographical, climatic, and dietary conditions there enable the goats to develop a particularly fine undercoat. The fibers are then spun, dyed, and finished at Todd & Duncan in Loch Leven, Fife—before being transformed into finished products by Kinalba in the Scottish Borders.
